Original Medicare
Together referred to as Original Medicare, Medicare Parts A & B cover most basic healthcare needs, such as doctor and hospital visits, lab work and x-rays. You can use any facility or provider nationwide that accepts Medicare. However, supplemental plans are often needed to help cover deductibles and copayments.

Original Medicare, which consists of Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance), provides coverage for many basic medical expenses. But it doesn’t cover everything, leaving seniors scrambling to come up with the money for costs like deductibles and copayments.
Medicare supplemental plans are available to help fill those gaps. You can add more prescription drug coverage with Medicare Part D, purchase a Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) Plan to help cover copays and deductibles, or switch to a Medicare Advantage Plan for additional benefits.

Medicare Part D (Prescription Drugs)
