ACA Marketplace Health Plan Features

Costs

ACA health plans may have deductibles for certain services. In this case, you’ll pay the deductible and then a percentage of the remaining cost. Government subsidies are available to help cover the monthly premiums if your income is low enough. Each plan has a maximum out of pocket amount. This is the most you’d be required to pay for services that are covered by the plan.

Coverage

Services for preventive care are free and you won’t have to pay a deductible. Doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, childbirth, pregnancy and mental health services are all covered. There is typically a provider network that you will be required to use for doctor and hospital visits. Dental and vision care for adults is not covered by Marketplace insurance.

Eligibility

Anyone living in the United States who is a U.S. citizen or national and is not incarcerated is eligible to enroll in Marketplace health insurance. Open enrollment begins on November 1 each year for the following year’s insurance coverage. Certain life events may qualify you for a special enrollment period, such as marriage, the birth of a child or loss of other coverage.
